چکیده

We are investigating the use of GPS carrier-phase for high accuracy time transfer measurements. We have conducted a long-term time transfer experiment between the United States Naval Observatory (USNO) Master Clock and Alternate Master Clock (AMC). These clocks are located at the USNO in Washington D.C. and Schriever Air Force Base near Colorado Springs, Colorado, respectively. At both locations two-way satellite time transfer (TWSTT) measurements are made nearly every hour and geodetic dual-frequency GPS carrier-phase data are collected every 30 seconds. The data are analyzed using a geodetic software package developed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory combined with precise satellite orbits determined by the International GPS Service (IGS) global tracking network [1,2]. The radial accuracy of these orbits is approximately 10 cm. Instead of computing the difference between the GPS observables, as is common in highaccuracy geodetic GPS analyses, the software explicitly estimates the receiver and satellite clocks at each data epoch. The technical GPS issues investigated include the importance of carrier-phase ambiguity resolution, troposphere modeling, thermal effects, and multipath noise. Given that the error spectra for the GPS and TWSTT systems are quite distinct, we hope to learn more about each system's accuracy potential.

Remote Calibration of a GPS Timing Receiver to UTC(NIST) via the Internet*

The timing pulse from a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver is typically within 1μs of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) kept at NIST, called UTC(NIST), even if the receiver and antenna have not been calibrated for delays. However, it is not possible for most laboratories to make an accurate measurement of their GPS receiver’s time offset with respect to UTC(NIST), or to monitor its continu...

Ptb’s Time and Frequency Activities in 2006: New Dcf77 Electronics, New Ntp Servers, and Calibration Activities

The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) maintains the German legal time scale, disseminates time and frequency for both business and the general public, and undertakes research to improve its capabilities. In this report, we focus on the new time dissemination installations for the general public, which is comprised of the new low frequency transmitter DCF77 electronics and the new NTP ...

مدل سازی خطای تروپوسفری برای مشاهدات تعیین موقعیت ماهواره‌ای

In this paper a practical method for tropospheric effects on GPS derived coordinates in absolute mode is presented. GPS observations at the permanent GPS stations can be used as source of information for the modeling. The developed model is a time-dependent model and as such differs from usual tropospheric models, which are based on atmospheric parameters, i.e. temperature, pressure and humidit...

Application of Network RTK Positions and Geometric Constraints to the Problem of Attitude Determination Using the GPS Carrier Phase Measurements

Nowadays, navigation is an unavoidable fact in military and civil aerial transportations. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is commonly used for computing the orientation or attitude of a moving platform. The relative positions of the GPS antennas are computed using the GPS code and/or phase measurements. To achieve a precise attitude determination, Carrier phase observations of GPS requiring...

918-t Annual Precise Time and Time Interval (PTTI) Meeting COMPARISON OF ATOMIC FREQUENCY STANDARDS AT NIST AND PTB USING CARRIER- PHASE GPS

We have constructed a link between Physikalisch-Techniche Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig, Germany and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado using carrier-phase Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. The link will provide a direct measurement of the frequency difference between UTC(PTB) and UTC(NIST), and can also be used to provide a direct comp...
